What is grazing/skin lifting and why does it happen?

Our skin around the eye area is extremely delicate and thin. When waxing is carried out,  the wax essentially exfoliates the skin, removing very thin layers of the stratum corneum, which is the outermost layer of skin (epidermis) along with the hair. Some products listed below can exfoliate and speed up the cell turnover of our skin which can cause significant skin thinning. If when the wax is applied and it adheres to the skin and the stratum corneum is already thinned, some part of the living layer of cells that lies underneath may bind to the wax in its place of application. When the wax is then stripped off, so is the live tissue, leaving the skin looking raw and red.

Always check what ingredients are inside your skincare/makeup products before applying and using them.

Skin care products are becoming more advanced and accessible. Lots of us purchase products without actually knowing what is inside them. Please look out for certain ingredients listed above. Especially products which are made to help with anti-ageing, acne and problematic skin.

Please consult with your technician prior to booking a brow waxing service if you are uncertain about anything listed above.
